BALZAC (Honoré de). Complete Works. Paris: Furme, Dubouchet, - Lot 310
BALZAC (Honoré de). Complete Works. Paris: Furme, Dubouchet, Hetzel, and Paulin, 1842–1848, 17 volumes in-8, green half-shagreen, ribbed spine, blind-stamped fillets. First collected edition. “This work was originally intended to comprise only 17 volumes. The last three were published by Houssiaux to complete the first set, seven years after the publication of Volume XVII.” (Clouzot). With the exception of volumes II through V, all volumes are first printings. Portrait of Balzac and 109 illustrations (out of 119), including 6 missing illustrations—as is often the case—which are generally found in Volume XX, and 4 out of 5 in Volume XVII, noting that these illustrations are often missing because they were delivered only later. A fine copy in its original binding. Minor wear on the edges and corners. Scattered foxing. A faint water stain on the corner of Volume III.
