Portico clock in matt and burnished gilt bronze, white marble, domed enamelled dial with Arabic numerals indicating hours and minutes, signed G. JOLLY in PARIS. Set in a case adorned with laurel branches, bezels adorned with pearls, topped with an antique-style vase, it rests on a semicircular temple with foliate bronze columns, around an altar with doves. François-Pierre called Gaston Jolly, watchmaker, received master on May 6, 1784 and active on rue des Arcis then rue Michel le Comte. Late 18th century. Bronzes attributable to Claude Galle. H. 48 - L. 24 cm. Accidents, missing parts, movement with missing parts and wear.
