POLAND. Princess Maria ZAMOYSKA (1860-1937), Polish philanthropist, socialist activist and teacher; she founded, in 1908, in her home at the Hôtel Lambert, the office for the protection of Polish workers in France. File containing 12 items (some defects) concerning the Szarzynska family, including a typed letter signed by Maria Zamoyska, written at the very beginning of the war, on September 4, 1914. "Mrs. Sarzynska with child is Polish. He would be happy to serve France without the measure of his abilities and physical strength; he offers himself to any work that makes him live. The work of protection of the Polish worker in France solicits for him help and protection of the authorities and the French population [...] ". The other documents are a group photograph, a social insurance card, a work card, 2 civil status documents in Polish (one incomplete) and documents relating to the separation of the Szarzynska couple.
