ENGRAVINGS. - Anti-Jesuit engraving. Copper engraving, 39,5 x 28,5 cm, folded in two. 18th century. Beautiful engraving against the Jesuits : " Societatis Jesu insigna suorum in omni genere scelerum merces vere digna ". Long caption in Italian. Old handwritten mention: "is it not one of the Jansenist engravings made by the daughter of the Regent, the famous abbess of Chelles". - François COLLIGNON (1609-1687), engraver and print dealer. Large etching, dated Rome 1663. 55 x 44,5 cm. Tab on the back. Light fading. Beautiful and large engraving of St. Peter's in Rome following the plan and colonnades of BERNIN. Inscriptions in the plate: "ALEXANDRO [N reversed] SEPT. P.M DICATUM [in a banner at the top of the view], Joa Trost Noricus Prospectum Delineavit [bottom left], Opus Equitis/Ioannis Laurentii/Bernini/Cum Privileggio Summi Pontificis [bottom center], Joannes Ronzonus Ornavit Sculp et Dicavit:Fran.co Collignon formis Roma 1663 [bottom right]." Attached is another large engraving of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome (tears with missing lower corners and light wetness (68.5 x 49 cm), [The Hague, 1690]: "Veduta interiore della gran basilica di S. Pietro in Vaticano" by Alessandro Specchi (1668-1729).
