CONCORDAT OF 1815. Gabriel CORTOIS DE PRESSIGNY (1745-1823), prelate, bishop of Saint-Malo; in August 1814, he was sent to Rome by Louis XVIII, charged with negotiating a new concordat with the Holy See; he was recalled in the spring of 1816 and appointed archbishop of Besançon. 2 L.A.S. to "Monsieur le Duc". 1 p. folio and 1 p. in-4. In a second letter, he addresses a medal that has just been struck by a resident of the Academy. "He wished to offer to the King, his benefactor, a proof of his application and success; this artist deserves to be encouraged.
