Paul DESJARDIN (1859-1940), professor, normalien, he animated during 30 years the Decades of Pontigny. Autograph letter signed to Alexandre Koyré. 4 pp. in-8. June 4, 1929. Header of the Abbey of Pontigny. Beautiful letter after reading his book on Jacob Boehme. He evokes his intense activity at Pontigny and hopes to have Heidegger come to the next decade. "Boehme appears as a metaphysician of the concrete, essentially different from the visionaries with whom his devotee Frankenberg confuses him. What struck me, along the way, occupied as I am with the subject of our third decade, is that our most modern physicists, when they push their conceptions to the limit, join Boehme, and even the alchemists and even the astrologers. The latter, when compared to Dr. Jaworski, for example, appear to be intuitive and anticipatory, not mere dreamers [...]. I see, dear sir and friend, that the aforementioned decade is already keeping you busy. Thank you for the list of six people to whom you instruct our secretary to send programs, starting with Heidegger. Do you really believe that he could come? The meeting of this metaphysician with English physicists such as Whitehead or Eddington would be full of revelations [...]".
