Jean-Charles-Pierre LENOIR (1732-1807), lieutenant general of police under Louis XVI (1774-1785) then master of the Library and guard of the King's Library. 2 autograph letters signed "Lenoir de Cindré" to his friend Trudon, in Altorf (Germany). 8 pp. in-4. Uberlingen (duchy of Baden), February 11 - March 1, 1798. One with address and wax seal. Fading. 2 long letters from emigration, detailing his situation and that of his "persecuted and ruined" family. "My mourning is done on ease and wealth; my rest is established on the freedom from all debts [...]". He looks for an asylum in Switzerland or in Germany and approaches his friend so that he finds him "a residence which can be the last for me". He reviews several cities and regions.
