Alfred CAPUS (1857-1922), journalist and... - Lot 241 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
Alfred CAPUS (1857-1922), journalist and playwright (French Academy), editor of Le Figaro. 98 autograph manuscripts signed, 286 pp. in-4, partly mounted on tabs or stapled. 1912-1914. Very important set consisting of his "Courrier de Paris" columns in the Figaro from January 22, 1912 to July 20, 1914. Entered the Figaro, Alfred Capus holds a weekly column for three years. His "Courrier de Paris" columns revealed his biting, ironic, witty pen; in February 1914, he was elected to the Académie française; one month later, upon the death of Gaston Calmette, he became editor-in-chief of the Figaro. These three years of chronicles, kept until the outbreak of the First World War, form a true epic fresco.
