[TARN-ET-GARONNE - MUSEE INGRES]. Félix-François... - Lot 221 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
[TARN-ET-GARONNE - MUSEE INGRES]. Félix-François BOUISSET (1875-1960), curator of Antiquities and Works of Art of Tarn-et-Garonne, then curator of the Ingres Museum until 1950. He notably welcomed works from the Louvre Museum (including the Mona Lisa) during the Second World War. L.A.S. Montauban, November 21, 1920. 3 pp. in-8. Header of the Musée Ingres. Minor tears. Beautiful drawing by Bouisset's hand, made with a pencil, representing the bronze bust of Molière, kept in the museum of Montauban. Bouisset then describes its characteristics: copied on the model of the bust of Molière in marble of the Comédie française, it was "probably cast by the house of barbedienne. However it is not stamped by this house. The patina is remarkable. It is of an olive black that produces an ashy green reflection. In the hollows, there are greenish and reddish tones, very attenuated. The model of this bust is precise and nervous [...]". Bouisset specifies that the initial version in plaster is preserved in Montpellier and bears the stamp of Houdon's workshop, draws the said sculpture with its various measurements, etc.
