SAVOIE. Joseph PELET DE LA LOZÈRE (1785-1871). Signed manuscript "Note on Savoy", 9 pp. in-folio. May 22, 1848. Report on the attachment of Savoy to France, studying the limits that it would be good to adopt. "[...] Under the general point of view, the question of Savoy would be very quickly decided. According to all the laws of nature, of history, of politics, it belongs to the French populations [...]. Under the present point of view, the Svoie is in the hands of Piedmont and Switzerland, both being able to invoke the guarantees of the Holy Alliance which seems to be asleep now but which acts no less under these appearances of calm [...]. Switzerland would be disinterested in this arrangement by the cession of a small part of the Chablais, along the lake of Geneva, and by the country which is on the right bank of the Menoge [...] By carrying the border that the top of the mountain of the Scales, by prolonging it between the lake of Bourges and the Rhone, one would touch the doors of Chambery [...] ".
