Auguste de SAINT-HILAIRE (1779-1853), botanist... - Lot 49 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
Auguste de SAINT-HILAIRE (1779-1853), botanist and explorer, president of the Academy of Sciences, he made long trips to Brazil and South America from which he brought back a rich herbarium kept in the National Museum of Natural History. L.A.S. "A. de SH", circa 1830. 1 p. in-8. Auguste de Saint-Hilaire congratulates his colleague for the "honorable post" that the Institute has entrusted to him, and recommends a young man "who ardently desires to accompany you, M. Barreau, who has already made two trips to the sea and who is filled with zeal. He is not used to describing, but he will harvest in a tireless way and will therefore be very useful to you [...]".
