ILLUMINATION OF THE OBELISK. Original photograph... - Lot 397 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
ILLUMINATION OF THE OBELISK. Original photograph in color, 40 x 50 cm. [1983]. Slightly warped. Framed. Large photograph representing the illumination in blue of the Obelisk on the Place de la Concorde, a conceptual work created on March 1, 1983 to mark the opening of Yves Klein's retrospective exhibition at the Centre Georges-Pompidou [the artist had imagined this project on the occasion of the exhibition at Iris Clert on April 28, 1958, but the prefecture cancelled the authorization at the very last moment]. This photograph is taken from a different angle than the official postcard, with the Palais Bourbon instead of the Champs-Élysées in perspective. A postcard representing this event, published by the Friends of the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, is attached.
