MARINE. About forty various documents, XVIIIth-XIXth. - Action for the arming of a ship. Engraved piece, left blank. 33 x 16 cm. 1835. Very nice and rare share of one thousand francs intended for the purchase and the armament of a ship for a long distance voyage. - Landing in England. Handwritten document of the period, 38 x 23 cm. July 15, 1779. Inventory of the army of the Count of Vaux and Rochambeau that was to land in the south of England, in the middle of the American War of Independence. Details of the composition of each division, of the command, of the embarked equipment, with comments: "Nota. The advance guard commanded by M. le Cte de Rochambeau assembles on the 14th of this month in Saint-Brieuc. Moreover, the supplies are very considerable and all things: 530 live oxen, 90,000 rations of fodder, 7,000 bags of oats and 300 shots to be fired per piece and per man", etc., are being taken on board. - [Compagnie des Indes]. Certificate given by the Compagnie des Indes for a passenger to take place on a vessel of the company (M. de Bretil, accompanied by his servant), "destined to pass to the Isles of France and Bourbon by the vessel the Saint-Louis". Lorient, 1766, 1 p. in-4 (small wormholes and paper eaten away by ink in some places). - Documents on the career of a torpedo boat non-commissioned officer, François-Joseph Blazinet: torpedo boat certificate (Toulon 1894), 3 certificates of good conduct and ability on board the battleships l'Indomptable, l'Océan and le Carnot (1894-1896), his military booklet. - 7 documents on the career of the lieutenant of vessel Delperé de Saint-Paul: appointments from the time he was a student of the Navy (1823) until his reform (1836). Signatures of various authorities. - 20 miscellaneous 19th century documents: certificates of good conduct (2), death, appointment to the court of Pondicherry (2, 1848), workman's leave (2, Rochefort 1809-1813, for naval carpenters), 2 certificates for hammering wood for the Imperial Navy (1809, 1811), remuneration of a marine carpenter (Rochefort year 12, nice vignette), landing order (Rochefort year 4, vignette), 6 bills of lading and maritime insurances, letter on the grounding of the frigate Didon in the Antilles, etc. - 5 revolutionary prints on the Navy: Law which fixes the arrangement of the colors in the various kinds of flags, or other distinctive marks used on the ships of war and on the commercial ships (1790), etc.
