[Maurice BELLONTE (1896-1984), aviator; with Dieudonné Costes, he set the world record for straight-line distance (Sept. 1929) and then made the first crossing of the North Atlantic from east to west (Paris-New York, Sept. 1930). Very important set of documents, in 2 boxes and several folders: - PATENTS AND CAREER. 2 folders. - Basic air navigator's certificate delivered to Maurice Bellonte (1923), delivery of a bonus by the Compagnie des Messageries Aériennes (1925), letter of dispatch of his aircraft mechanic's certificate (1924), request for a photo for his navigator's certificate (1924), certificate of Bellonte's employment at Air Union (Le Bourget 1928), letter of dispatch of his brevet of pilot of touring aircraft (1930), 3 certificates of visit of aptitude of pilot (Le Bourget 1930-1932), drafts of 6 long letters of Bellonte to the Minister of the Air and to the General Inspector, detailing at length his aptitudes and service records (+ typed doubles), 17 pp. in-4 handwritten (1933). - 4 certificates of aptitude of navigator and mechanic (1923-1925, in an envelope with his name and his identity photo), contract of "hiring" within the Compagnie des Messageries Aériennes (1922), 2 letters of Laurent Eynac and of the general Denain to Eynac (on his nomination to the National Council of the Transport and his reinstatement to the rank of lieutenant, set of documents granting him bonuses or remunerations, draft of Bellonte soliciting various jobs. - HISPANO-SUIZA. In the early 1930s, Maurice Bellonte joined Hispano-Suiza as an engineer in charge of developing new engines. This important file contains numerous documents: manuscripts, notes, letters and typescripts of tests and test reports, drafts of letters to management on both technical and administrative subjects, typed copies, reports of visits to Chartres, Mourmelon, Marignane, Reims, Metz, etc. Also included are - 16 letters from Hispano-Suiza executives (Bardel, Massuger, Forgeot) written during the war (1941-1943) and draft replies from M.B. Long and interesting correspondence. - 4 mission orders, January - May 1940, some of them "very urgent", for checking the Hispano-Suiza engines equipping the planes of the French Air Force. A small "Potez" file is attached. - CORRESPONDENCE. Important set of letters addressed to Maurice Bellonte (often with duplicate typescripts or draft replies), contained in a box. Mainly from the 1930s. - A folder of correspondence exchanged in the 1930s with magazines and newspapers (L'aéronautique, l'Aérophile, Les Ailes, l'Auto, Flight, etc.). - A folder of correspondence exchanged in the 1930s with equipment manufacturers and various structures related to its activities in aviation (Champion candles, Castrol oils, Cartier, Air France, Académie des Sports, International Air Safety Congress, Dunlop, etc.). - A folder of correspondence exchanged with the Aéroclub de France (1930s). - A folder of correspondence exchanged with aeronautical associations (Jean Mermoz committee, association of former students of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l'Aéronautique, Air-Meeting, association of aviation professionals, etc.). - A folder of personal correspondence from the years 10-20. - Other miscellaneous letters addressed to Maurice Bellonte, to be filed. - MISCELLANEOUS.
