MORBIHAN. François de LIMUR (Vannes 1817-1901), mineralogist and prehistorian, author of a catalog raisonné of minerals from Morbihan. L.A.S. to Alexis de Gourgues. 3 pp. in-8, "Hôtel de Limur", Oct. 27, 1865. He sends him a number of prehistoric objects and comments on them. Mainly a celtoe: "For me, the great value is the origin, I wanted to have one, found in a monument. As the one I have the honor to send you was found in a dolmen called the dolmen of Bissie []. They are very rare, all the celtoe of Brittany who have their civil status quite authentic. There are hardly those of the museum of Vannes found in the excavations made by the Polymathic Society of Morhihan []. In the same small box, 1° a Celtic medal, in bronze, found in the shapeless debris on the Ile aux Moines []. It was only a heap, impossible to prejudge what it was, I possess two other similar ones from the same place [] 6° Coals found in the excavations made by me in the dolmen of Keryïou in Gouëzorec []. Up to this day, we only have positive evidence in Brittany of the 2nd polished stone age [] ".
