The three professors request the shipment of a box from New Orleans, containing "objects of natural history", assembled by the botanist Auguste Trécul (1818-1896), on a mission to the United States since 1848, in particular to study the starchy roots cultivated by the American Indians. They sent their correspondent "a bill of lading that we have just received for the loading of a case of natural history objects sent to our establishment by one of his travelers, Mr. Ate Trécul, on the ship La Sylphide, destined for Bordeaux. They ask him to claim the said box and to "have it sent back immediately by the quickest way". They also wait for the bill of expenses to be certified by him.
