Frédéric JOLIOT-CURIE (1900-1958), physicist, Nobel prize of chemistry. Set of 11 letters (2 L.A.S. and 9 L.S.) + 1 from his secretary, to his friend René Maublanc. 11 pp. in-8 and in-4. Headings (Collège de France, CNRS, Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique, etc.). Envelopes. Paris, 1945-1950. Correspondence mainly devoted to writing articles for the journal La Pensée, directed by René Maublanc. He sends his article on "Professor LANGEVIN", mentions his trip to the Soviet Union, sends various articles for the review (in particular on the first French atomic pile), militates for the Franco-Polish friendship, asks for cuts in a text by Jacques Hadamard. He also talks about his health problems. In a last letter, he evokes the Appeal of Stockholm which he launched in March 1950 to prohibit the atomic bomb. "It is impossible for me at this moment to write this text, as I have a very big job at the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique and several articles to write for the questions concerning the prohibition of the atomic weapon for the Peace Congress.
