File compiled in 1818, on the project to establish a distillery on the Picardy properties of the Baron d'Arlincourt (the family owned the Château de l'Épinoy in Mareuil). - 2 long letters from Ménoires, the initiator of the project, including one of 8 pp. in-4 exposing a double project: "a sugar refinery from beets & from ground or raw sugar, & a 3/6 spirit distillery from molasses & from the residues of sugar manufacturing & from the potatoes that would be harvested as well as from beets". - 1 numerical letter from another associated with the project. - 1 letter from a spirits trader committing to purchase the entire production. - 5 L.A.S. from Count Cholet (1747-1826). - 1 L.A.S. from Baron d'Arlincourt to Count Cholet (Hailles, 1818). Attached : 6 interesting letters from Abbé Grenot, his chargé d'affaires at l'Épinoy, on the death of Mme d'Arlincourt, the management of the estate and especially the occupation by Prussian troops (Hailles and l'Épinoy, 1806, 1813 and 1815) ; "Finally they left this morning ; we are disappointed: what a sad month of November we spent; on All Saints' Day we lodged 22 men and 25 horses; in the space of 18 days we housed 8 soldiers, an officer and a sergeant: the red and half-red billiard balls are taken, they left for Prussia with my penknife; I beg you to buy one for me, that it is simple with only one blade, but that it is a good one [] " + 2 L.A.S. of the Baron d'Arlincourt in Grenot, on the succession and purchase of the property of Hailles from Mr. Daucourt, accompanied by a statement of accounts and an inventory of the effects to be taken over from Hailles (the Encyclopedia, the wine and beer, the piano, all the books, etc.) signed by the Baron d'Arlincourt.
