Very rare poster of Robespierre's speech of 18 floréal year II [7 May 1794] (first page alone, second page missing), without title, author or printer, justifying the policy of Terror and announcing the feast of the Supreme Being. "It is in prosperity that peoples, as well as individuals, must, so to speak, gather to listen, in the silence of passions, to the voice of wisdom []. Brissot and the Girondins wanted to arm the rich against the people; Hebert's faction, in protecting the aristocracy, caressed the people in order to oppress them by themselves. Danton, the most dangerous of the enemies of the Fatherland, if he had not been the coward; Danton, sparing all crimes, linked to all plots, promising the scoundrels his protection []. The idea of the Supreme Being and of the immortality of the soul is a continual reminder of justice; it is therefore social and republican []".
