[Charles VI Poitou and county of Marche].... - Lot 229 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
[Charles VI Poitou and county of Marche]. Parchment, 35 x 30 cm, sealed with a small red wax seal. Folded, small trimmings on one edge. Paris, 25 May 1409. Mandate from Charles VI concerning "the custom, usage and common observance of the paiz of Poictou and the county of the Marche where the chouses are seated, of which the following will be mentioned". It recalls the presentation made by Jehan Pelardit and the procedure of the withdrawal of lineage allowing a nobleman or even a commoner to break the sale made by a member of his lineage of a family property to a foreign third party and to appropriate it in return for paying the purchaser for all his expenses. In the present case, the evicted buyer has not left and continues to enjoy the property subject to withdrawal: "[] after the offers made to the buyer by led. expulsing and consignment of the faulty payment in case of refusal led. buyer may not take, raise or spoon the fruit of the cabbage by the buyer and requested by withdrawal may not apply to his own benefit but must be leased and delivered to the said withdrawal ... par espécial Huguet Brule ne doit ne pas empescher ou troubler led. exposant en sesd. pocessions [] ". Hence Jean Pelardit's petition to the King's Council, which issued an order keeping him in possession of the disputed goods and sent his opponents to the courts of justice of Touraine, Poitou, Anjou and Maine. Handwritten mention on the back: "Copy of royal letters 1409".
