Arthur de Bonnard known as "Gallus" (Beaumont-en-Véron, Indre-et-Loire 1805-1875), officer, then doctor of medicine. Disciple of Fourier, he was an uncompromising socialist; he created and supported many social experiments. He was part of the group of dissidents of the Harmonian Union, of which he managed for a time the newspaper Le Nouveau Monde. Correspondence of about 150 letters (often long) addressed to Arthur de Bonnard, circa 1820-1870. Important set of letters from officers, doctors, friends: Jacques Arago (evoking the difficulty of publishing his travels), Étienne Pariset, Mis de La Rochejaquelein (8), Du Petit-Thouars (3, 1827), d'Espinassoux (6), Lespinasse, Bordet, Monclar, Valmore, Waroquier, Tresca, Gal Campredon, Dembrowski, de Waroquier, Valmore (2), Baron de Belcourt, etc. Attached: the will and some manuscripts of Arthur de Bonnard, including a "draft epitaph to be engraved on the tomb of Casimir Périer" (2 pp. in-folio) composed by Arthur de Bonnard's father, a file of genealogical research on the family of Bonnard from Touraine. Also enclosed: two files of letters, documents and diplomas of his son Arthur Gaëtan de Bonnard (1845-1929), engineer of Arts and Manufactures. (see also, from the same source, n°213).
