Miraculous appearance of Joan of Arc. 1 printed... - Lot 213 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
Miraculous appearance of Joan of Arc. 1 printed page, in-4, entitled "Miraculous Apparition in Paris on Sunday, October 13, 1872" signed "Gallus" [Arthur de Bonnard (1805-1875), physician and Fourierist]. Wrinkled right margin. Account of a curious appearance of Joan of Arc in the office of Dr. Bonnard. "I was in my office and alone in my apartment when the doorbell rang. But the tone had completely changed. It had acquired the low note of a bell ringing in agony. Surprised, I went to open the door and saw a young girl in peasant's clothing []. Curiously enough, I immediately recognized that what was in front of me was not corporeal. I put myself in order respectfully; she slipped on the floor like a shadow []. She told me []: I am the Immaculate. My name is Jeanne, and I was born in the small village of Domrémy, near Vaucouleurs, in Lorraine []". Attached is another printed leaflet (right margin also crumpled), 2 pp. in-4, anonymous (but by the same author), [1872], the last two lines of which have been crossed out in ink, entitled: "Pilgrimage to Domrémy. "And why not? Isn't the Saint of Domrémy worth the folle de la Salette []. Is she not worth the little merchant from Lourdes who fell in love with red trousers? [] ».
