Hérault / Medicine. 2 documents. - Eugène Gley (1857-1930), endocrinologist and physiologist, professor at the Collège de France. "The true figure of the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier". Typescript with autograph additions, 20 pp. in-4, [1921]. Speech by Eugène Gley delivered at the Sorbonne, paying tribute to the role played by the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier. "The brilliance of the vitalist doctrine and the glory of its great Montpellier founders marked the true figure of the ancient Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier no less than the modern Faculty. This is how the universal renown that the work of Barthez and Bordeu brought to the Faculty was earned. This is an unjust ransom. During the past centuries, the Faculty was nothing less than the school of medical philosophy that we wanted to see in it. It was, in fact, the first and it always remained a great school of observation. This is its true glory, the one that does not pass []". - Jean Bézac (Montpellier 1646-1738), doctor, professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier from 1674 to 1738. Piece signed, on parchment, partly printed, 48 x 30 cm (approximately). Montpellier, February 27, 1716. Rare patent from the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier awarded to Claude Natey for his "Tractatum de structura cerebri" [Treatise on the Structure of the Brain].
