"Your offer to give him one hundred of the 72 plates of Mr. Mirbel's Elements of Botany at 600 francs, on condition that he take not less than 500 copies, however honest it may be, was not accepted by him, because he is afraid of risking too much by obtaining so many copies at once. I am sure he is wrong.... However, encouraged by my botanical schoolchildren, I would like to provide them with these magnificent tables, and that is why I dare to ask you to set a suitable price for them yourself....
