[GAMBLING] Manuscript of 4 pp. in-4, first half of the 19th - Lot 236
[GAMBLING] Manuscript of 4 pp. in-4, first half of the 19th century. Sunstroke marks. Curious anonymous manuscript entitled: "Games of chance, their advantages, ways to fight them and to play them successfully". The author announces his discovery, "the fruit of 40 years of observation and work" and "the mathematical proof of what I am saying". He claims to have found an infallible system. "It is this principle, which is based only on the bad head of the players, that I claim to destroy in the eyes of all sensible people, especially if he is a mathematician, and to prove by the laws of probability that there are certain means: 1° to destroy the banker's advantage by giving himself one of much higher. 2° to spare yourself a series of blows, long enough to resist a series of deviations, i.e. a series of blows contrary to the course you have adopted []. I know that I will be objected to the martingales [] ".
