[DANCE] "Factum for Mademoiselle PETIT, dancer... - Lot 32 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
[DANCE] "Factum for Mademoiselle PETIT, dancer of the Opera, dismissed, complaining to the Public". Small printed brochure from the 18th century, 6 pp. in-12 + blank sheet. Hardcover from the XIXth century (partly detached) with title piece. Circa 1774-1775. A dancer in the opera, Mademoiselle Petit was dismissed following a scandalous adventure, having been found "in Venus" in the company of the Marquis de Bonac in the wings of the theatre (it is probably the same one that is reported at the theatre of the great dancers of the King between 1772-1774, the future theatre of the Gaité). In this factum, she exposes her point of view to the public, denying having been caught in Eve's outfit. The blanks were completed at the time by handwritten names: Mlle Cartou, de Pibrac, de Bonac, Dallenville, etc. However, the copy having been trimmed, some of the names in the margins are truncated. Rare document.
