Charles DARWIN (1809-1882), the great English naturalist. - Lot 22
Charles DARWIN (1809-1882), the great English naturalist. Letter signed (body of text written by Francis Darwin) [addressed to botanist Gaetano Durando (1811-1892), Algiers]. 2 pp. in-8, headed to his address "Down, Beckenham, Kent". Down, December 29, 1877. "I thank you for your present of the interesting photographs & if my oldest son & daughter were at home they would join me in my thanks. As you have been so good as to send me your photograph, perhaps you would like one of myself, wich I enclose. I have not received the seeds, but Sir J. Lubbock will probably send them in a few days. My son George will perhaps spend the winter in Algiers & if he does will give himself the pleasure of calling on you [...]". [John Lubbock (1834-1913), prehistorian and naturalist, was president of the Linnean Society of London].
