Alexander AGASSIZ (1835-1910), American zoologist. Autograph letter signed [to geologist Alfred Lacroix (1863-1948)], 4 pp. in-8, Muséum of Comparative Zoology letterhead. Cambridge, Mass. April 26, 1888. He sends introductory cards to American geologists and information for geologists who wish to visit various American states with him. On his arrival in Cambridge, he invites him to contact Professor Cooke. "He will be able to give him the most useful information at the vast number of interesting localities". Messrs Huntington and Whitney also have "a more extensive knowledge of the geology of the country. Mr. Emmens is in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Hagen is the geologist in charge of explorations in Yellowstone Park [...]. I am due to leave soon for the Orient at the end of June, but if by chance this expedition is missed, he will find me either in Cambridge or Newport (Rhode Island) [...]. If Mr. Lacroix could arrive in the United States before the middle of June, he would be sure to find the geologists before they leave [...]".
