Japan, late Meiji-Taishô period, early 20th century Suite of six polychrome kakemono on silk, depicting, in the upper part, the gods Futen (god of wind) and Raiden (god of thunder and lightning), dispensing their various talents to groups of people below: painting the night above travelers, making it snow, rain, trigger wind or thunder. Unsigned. (A few accidents, notably at the junction with the mounting; some end caps are missing). 111 x 43 cm approx.
