Gaspard van den HOECKE (circa 1585-1648) Lazarus and the Bad Rich Man Oil on oak panel 75.5 x 107.4 cm Provenance : Private collection Caspar van den Hoecke was a Flemish painter active in Antwerp. He trained in the studio of his father, Joris van den Hoecke, a painter and engraver, and was a member of the St. Luke's Guild in Antwerp from 1603. Although his artistic career was relatively short, his work had a major impact on 17th-century Flemish art. There are other versions of this painting, one of which was offered for sale in Paris in 2005 (Vente anonyme Piasa, June 24, 2005, lot 8).
