Early 17th-century Italian school, entourage of Domenico FETTI Saint bishop (Saint Augustine?) Oil on canvas (not lined, old restorations) On the back, an old torn and illegible label and a painted inventory number: "N - 597 (?)". 73.5 x 56.5 cm This image of a bishop can be compared with a series of saints by Domenico Fetti at Hampton Court, including a writing bishop (inv.755) and a St. Joseph (inv.757). Also worthy of note is a Saint Augustine formerly attributed to the Spanish school, now in the Bernard d'Agesci Museum in Niort (Inv.G.37).
