Rare letter to his traveling companion in Persia, the painter Jules Laurens, draftsman of the scientific mission led by Hommaire de Hell. "Would you be so kind as to come and see me next Friday morning at about 10 o'clock. I would like to have an interview with you in order to finalize our conditions, so that I know where I stand, if, as I wish, circumstances allow me to accept you as a travelling companion [...]".
