Adolphe Théodore BRONGNIART (1801-1876), French botanist and - Lot 7
Adolphe Théodore BRONGNIART (1801-1876), French botanist and paleontologist. Signed autograph letter addressed to geologist Jules Desnoyers (1800-1887). S.l.n.d. 1 p. in-12. Brongniart orders him to provide all botanical works concerning the Amazon River to the botanist Auguste Trécul: "I beg Mr. Desnoyers to kindly give Mr. Trécul all possible facilities to consult the travels or botanical works relating to the Amazon River [...]". As early as 1840, botanist Auguste Trécul (1818-1896) made his first expeditions to South America, where he carried out botanical studies. His explorations in the most remote regions of Amazonia led to the discovery of many unknown plant and animal species.
