DORDOGNE. Handwritten notes (bouillons with parts crossed ou - Lot 198
DORDOGNE. Handwritten notes (bouillons with parts crossed out), on 3 pp. in-4. Staining and defects. Circa 1596. Interesting notes on crimes that occurred around the fort of Journiac in the context of the Wars of Religion. "Jehan ou? frecquente les ennemys du Roy journellement et praticque des soldatz [...]. Thus he has committed several murders of people in the country against several people, even against a suysse of Mr le maral's guard [...]. He is being held prisoner [...]. It so happened that incontinently after his imprisonment, his brother and brother-in-law, who frequented the fort and church of Journiac [fortified church of Saint-Saturnin], as did the prisoner's wife [...] found a way to traitorously introduce, as they did into the said fort of Journhac, those of the garrison of Miramont who are enemies of the King [...]". Two League captains then took possession of the place and laid siege to it... On the other page are notes on the "moulin de la Forestz" and at the end a note dated 1596: "Ce dimanche XI febvrier 1596 messieurs de Rignac, Lavergne d'Alzac [...]". In the other direction, accounts: "un cappitaine xxx# A monseigneur payer iii# [...]".
