Cognac trade in the 18th century. Letters from shipowners and commission agents in Rochefort (Jean Pelletreau) and La Rochelle (Antoine de Galwey), for the purchase, loading and shipment of "tierçons d'eau de vie" to Dublin, London, by ships or barges. "I think that my friends would have done well to have provided themselves with eau de vie in Dunkirk, because after the harvest this liqueur will drop in price immeasurably". "[...] I gave notice of this purchase by mardy's mail & you will do the same for the purchase of ten more tierçons eau de vie which I will need to load on another ship for the IP brand which will have to be loaded by 5 tierç. & 10 barrels & likewise the same quantity already ordered for this brand in Captain Allen's cargoes.
