CHARENTE. Some twenty documents. - Lot 178
CHARENTE. Some twenty documents. File on the murder of Jean Arnauld, seigneur de Bouex, lieutenant of the Angoulême presidial court, on September 2, 1698, by Roger Raymond, who fled to Bavaria. Condemned to be broken alive, the sentence was carried out in effigy, while the King of Bavaria represented Raymond to Louis XIV, but to no avail. In 1746, he obtained the annulment of his sentence by Louis XV, but the deceased's family protested; he died in Bavaria in 1749. The file includes 12 long letters from the lawyer Guyot de Chesne to M. de Bouex, in Angoulême, about this affair (22 pp. in-4). A letter to Arnauld de Chesne on Raymond's death (1749). 8 printed factums on this affair (some in duplicate).
