CANTAL. Barthélemy Louis Isaac Dufour, seigneur and baron de - Lot 176
CANTAL. Barthélemy Louis Isaac Dufour, seigneur and baron de PRADT (1718-1780), noble personality of Haute-Auvergne, father of the archbishop of Malines. 7 autograph letters signed to Madame Juge, merchant in Clermont. "Pradt près Allanche", 1762-1779. 10 pp. in-4. Addresses on back. Having heard of his store "as the best in Clermont and especially for the silk part", he places an order for various garments: "Une robbe tafetas: 15 aulsnes seulement: taffetas fort blanc, agréable, et cet air de fraicheur qui annonce le gout et convient à tous les âges [...]. I want a taffeta that is pleasant to wear on a dress, and that one is not ashamed to wear [...]. He used to buy from Mr Roum. But "he passed me by a rodingotte whose sheet has at least a hundred holes, and I don't say too much [...]" "I find myself without a jacket button to complete the pinchebeck trim for my valet, no lining for the aforementioned jacket [...]. Everything must be matched [...]. I'm not talking to him about a complete silver spiral button trim [...]".
