ALPES DE HAUTE-PROVENCE. 3 documents, XIVe-XVIIe. - Lot 153
ALPES DE HAUTE-PROVENCE. 3 documents, XIVe-XVIIe. - Early 14th-century manuscript leaflet. 1 p. in-4 narrow. [Digne, circa 1320]. Transcription attached with analysis. Account of a clavaire who collects fines following a conviction. "IN QUARTO PARLAMENTO CONDEPNANDI": names of those to be condemned at the fourth session (or parliament), with sums to be paid. This fragment probably refers to the bailiwick of Digne under the Count of Provence, where a judge held four annual parliaments or assizes. The name Raymondus Gaufridi is marked with XV sous; this name appears in 1326 on a deed of trial (p. 237 of the Essai historique sur le cominalat dans la ville de Digne) opposing the inhabitants to nobles who refused to submit to taxes, calculated according to their property wealth. On the back, draft of another text (commentary on a donation), from the same period. - Mandement d'Honorat comte de Tende gouverneur en Provence, "au lieutenant des submissions au siège de Forcalquier". Forcalquier, January 1, 1668, embossed seal. - Request from Charles de Grasse, bailiff of Manosque, concerning a tenant farm. Parchment, October 14, 1600.
