"I have only one regret, and that is not to have had your work at my disposal when I published my studies on botanical geography, but then there was nothing on the principality of Monaco, that charming paradise for botanists and phthisists [...]. Your associations are also very curious. One has no idea of the importance for science of a little corner of the earth conscientiously studied as you have done for the surroundings of Menton. I don't think your paperia dubinum is Linné's paperia dubinum, which lives in Sweden and the mountains. I think you must have the one Lamotte named Lecoqie [...]".
