Hippolyte François JAUBERT (1798-1874), botanist and politician, president of the Société Botanique de France; he formed a very important herbarium. 3 signed letters to Honoré Ardoïno. 5 ½ pp. in-8 and in-4. A letterhead from the Société Botanique de France. Domaine de Givry by Jouet-sur-Aubois (Cher) and Paris, 1864-1867. He asks her to reserve for him a selection of plants from the Menton area. "This flora is for me the object of a real predilection and I hope to be able to renew some day in your company some of the explorations of which my herbarium contains the memories [...]. In the flowerbed in front of your house, I noticed a beautiful tree-like compound reminiscent of certain Canary Island senecios. Please tell me its name [...]". He acknowledges receipt of his cytises, encourages him in his work on the flora of Menton and comments on his Flore des Alpes-Maritimes.
