Pisa, 1810-1825. On his work on clovers. "I take the liberty of presenting you with a memoir on various species of the Clovers I have just published. It is a small tribute of my respect and veneration for your Excellency [...]". The second letter is entirely devoted to an order for plants for the Botanical Garden of Pisa, for which he lists 28 species (Camelia japonica, Naudina domestica, etc.). "This first commission is only a trial to determine the cost of transport and to judge the state in which the plants will arrive. If I remain satisfied, we will do things on a larger scale [...]".
