Casimir ROUMEGUERE (1828-1892), French botanist. 4 L.A.S. to naturalist and botanist Emmanuel LE MAOUT (1799-1877). Toulouse, February 23 and March 24, 1870, May 3 and 20, 1872. 6 pp. ½ in-8. Some notes by Le Maout. A header printed with his name. Scientific correspondence devoted to cryptogamy, i.e. the study of flowerless plants (fungi, lichens and algae whose reproductive organs are hidden). Roumeguere discusses his works in this field: Cryptogamie illustrée, Plantes cryptogames, etc. He praises the merits of the Italian botanist and cryptogamist Giuseppe de Notaris, talks about the mosses of the Aude (of which he sends a box of samples to Le Maout), his trip to Italy and many of his research projects, etc. Dense and interesting
