Charles-Victor NAUDIN (1815/1899), botanist and precursor of - Lot 50
Charles-Victor NAUDIN (1815/1899), botanist and precursor of genetics, whose work inspired Darwin and Mendel. Autograph letter signed to chemist Auguste Scheurer-Kestner (1833-1899). 1 p. ½ in-8. Montreuil-sous-Bois, March 3, 1882. He has just learned "that you have rectified methylenes by my process. I regret very much that this test was carried out without notifying me; for methyl alcohol, in particular, involves tricks of the trade with which these gentlemen are unacquainted. The samples you received are therefore very imperfect". He asks her for an appointment so that they can get along and "arrive at something good in this new direction".
