Alfred-Marie LIÉNARD (1869-1958), physicist whose work paved - Lot 39
Alfred-Marie LIÉNARD (1869-1958), physicist whose work paved the way for the discovery of synchrotron radiation. Autograph letter signed [to physicist Marc Jougnet]. 2 pp. in-8. Paris, October 2, 1946. Later note of identification at the bottom of the signature. "I have just read the notice about your work. I was already familiar with your work on eddy current heating, but I was completely unaware of your research on the natural vibrations of cavities and on waveguides. All this forms an important whole. I was also very interested in your exposition of Maxwell's theories. It is certain, as you say, that Maxwell did not manage to get rid of his mechanistic ideas and that L. Lorentz's retarded potentials brought a great simplification [...]".
