Hippolyte JAUBERT (1798-1874) was a botanist and politician who built up an extensive herbarium and helped found the Société botanique de France. 5 signed autograph letters (+ 1 autograph visiting card) to publisher Jean-Baptiste Baillière (1797-1885). 6 pp. in-8. Domaine de Givry (Cher) and Paris, 1849-1870. Purchases books for his botanical library. "While inserting Mr Hooker's plates (Icones) into my herbarium, I noticed that plate 751 sinapidendran gracile was missing and that, on the contrary, plate 752 sinapidendran vegelii was duplicated [...]". He wanted to know what had become of the 50 portfolios sold at the Bigot de Préameneu sale. "These portfolios contained a collection of botanical engravings extracted from a host of works". "I have never owned any works with engravings by Tenore other than the volumes that were sold to you a few years ago in exchange for other botanical books [...]. I find Mr. Mueller's two large works too expensive. But I still want to own volumes 1, 3, 5 and following of his Fragmenta phytographia australiae [...]". In a final letter, he orders several botanical works (Koch - Flora germanica; Lloyd - Flore de l'ouest, etc.).
