Jean-Baptiste BORY DE SAINT-VINCENT (1778-1846), naturalist - Lot 5
Jean-Baptiste BORY DE SAINT-VINCENT (1778-1846), naturalist and geographer; part of the Scientific Expedition to Algeria. Autograph letter signed to a bookseller. Paris, September 17 [1830]. 2 pp. in-8. Address on verso of second leaf with postmarks. Bory de Saint-Vincent orders the "bibles" of his elders, the most illustrious botanists of the past: Le Botanicon Parisiense (1723) by Sebastien Vaillant, Le Nova plantarum genera (1729), by Pietro Antonio Micheli, containing around 900 species of plants and fungi, Manifestum botanicum de plantis Siculis (1668), by Paolo Silvio Boccone, Fundamenta historiae naturalis muscorum frondosorum by Johannes Hedwig, L'ancienne Flore françoise (in 3 volumes) by Lamarck. He would like these works at the best possible price, then asks if his correspondent's herbarium is in order, and would like to see it.
