Aimé BONPLAND (1773-1858), botanist and explorer, companion of Humboldt in South America; after the fall of Napoleon, he settled permanently in South America. Autograph signed. 1 p. in-4. Restauracion (Argentina), May 17, 1854. "Seeds for Algeria contained in this box". Bonpland lists 11 plants for which he is sending seeds to be introduced in Algeria. "[...]4. Eugenia guaviyu... fructus adulis. More pleasant than our best cherries [...]. 7. Cestrum. Berries are used to make ink that is indelible to the action of sea water [...]. 10. Anapinda chimosa linn. Shrub covered with thorns very suitable for making surrounds". Bonpland's autographs are extremely rare.
