Paris, 3 messidor year 2 [21 June 1794]. Former Georges Chapuis collection (folder and seal) He copies an "extract of two letters of J.B. Thounens to the colony of St. Lucia during his mission to the Cape where Leroi and Girault were then", which he comments. "The party of which I spoke in the preceding paragraph was that of coming to France on the same ship as the ex-delegates, while my colleague Henry went to give an account of our mission to the colony of St. Lucia, which approved everything by the documents I have in hand. I was convinced more and more during the crossing that I had not been mistaken in the judgment I had made against the civic-mindedness of Leroi & Girault who filled the measure by paling and shedding tears when they came to announce to us, at the moment of our arrival in the roadstead of the island of Aix, the judgment and the execution of the tyrant [...]".
