POEM OF THE XVIIE CENTURY. Manuscript from the first third of the seventeenth century, by an unidentified hand. 1 p. ½ in-4. Anonymous epithalam inspired by Philippe Desportes' Stances, celebrating the wedding of Bernard and Marie (Bernard de Nogaret and Marie du Cambout?). On the back is an account of receipts and deliveries of grain entering and leaving the cellar of a convent (1610), which may be the convent of the Cordeliers de Noyon. Full transcript attached. "Love guides my pen, assures my spirits / And gives me the skill so that in this writing / I can happily in despit of envy / Sing these two lovers Bernard and his Mary [...]". 46 verses.
