CHER. Manuscript on paper, from 1434. Notebook... - Lot 115 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
CHER. Manuscript on paper, from 1434. Notebook of 7 pp. in-4. Conflict over the common oven of Saint-Amand-Montrond. Period copy of several letters and court documents from 1432, 1433 and 1434, concerning the construction of a communal oven at the town market by Charles II d'Albret (1407-1471), the former comrade-in-arms of Joan of Arc, who had built the imposing castle of Montrond, flanked by twelve surrounding towers and a 40-meter high keep. A note from the 18th century summarizes the case. It appears that Etienne Prevost presented a complaint to Charles d'Albret who ordered his bailli to inquire about the content; it results that the holders of the banal ovens of Saint-Amand were also disturbed by M. de Cullan, who had an oven built in the small castle against the one of the aforementioned Prévost, which gave them the opportunity to obtain letters in the form of complaints against him, but they did not dare to put them into execution because they were threatened if they did so to cut off their arms and legs; but Jean Morne bought it since then and made faith and homage of it to the lord of Albret
